Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, has exclusively refuted the rumour which claimed that Manchester United is "preparing to spend €100 million during this summer transfer window" to sign Barcelona captain, Brazili international winger Raphinha through his personal official paid column on Sunday.
Romano refuted in his column that, not to mention that Barcelona never wanted to sell Raphinha, Manchester United had never planned on signing the former Leeds United player.
He said that due to the risks of the possibility of violating the Financial Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) at any time, Manchester United had never planned on signing, whose release clause alone was already more than €500 million, in the near future. The Red Devils must sell as many players as possible before considering signing players. He had reported this several months ago, so he didn't understand why someone was still hyping up this topic maliciously.
Romano also added that Barcelona has decided to negotiate with Raphinha on a contract extension after the end of this season, and the player has never planned on leaving the club.
Manchester United will look for other wingers that they can afford and sign, but this player is not Raphinha or Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
Upon verification, the rumours claiming that Manchester United "is ready to spend €100 million during this summer transfer window" to sign Barcelona captain Raphinha" was a fake news released by the Spanish inferior online media outlet Fichajes, a regular representative of our website's "Daily Slap in the Face Party" at the end of March 2025.
Since Fichajes has always liked to lie from time to time in the past few years that a certain Premier League giant is "interested" in signing Raphinha, these related rumours which it released have no longer received any attention. Until recently, inferior media such as outlets TeamTALK, The Sun, and 90 Min repeatedly reposted this rumour, which finally alarmed Romano to come out and refute it.
So far this season, Raphinha, who has performed completely differently, has played 48 times for the La Liga leaders in all competitions, scored 30 goals, assisted 23 times, and won the Supercopa de España with the club.
